The techniques of geodemograhy 3 Nov 08 half day (pm)
This introductory seminar, aimed primarily at members of the Market Research Society, was well attended and successful. It included a short presentation on innovations in geodemography – a foretaste of the OACUG event being planned for May/June 2009.
This half day seminar on the afternoon of 3 November was jointly arranged with the Census and Geodemographic Group of the Market Research Society at the MRS headquarters in London. The seminar mainly covered the same ground as the ‘launch’ seminars for OACUG and was primarily aimed at members of the MRS in the private sector, but existing OACUG members were welcome to attend.

Alex Singleton in particular presented new material on innovations in geodemography – a foretaste of the OACUG event in planning for May/ June 2009.
The seminar was well attended and the presentations were well received. Among points raised in discussion delegates wanted clarification of copyright issues where information from several sources is being combined by the fast developing techniques to present and visualize classifications. Delegates were also keen that further ONS surveys are OAC coded, and to see more case studies of OAC in use. OACUG will take up these issues.
